Beşiktaş Square will be the place to go Wednesday night when it hosts the finals of the Red Bull Street Style's Turkish leg.
In 2007, Red Bull Reaccion offers a platform for Latin America's most talented ball artists. Competitors from no fewer than 47 nations have been battling in more than 100 local qualifiers leading to national finals. Each participating country will be able to send one "baller" to the event's world final.
The competition in Turkey started with eliminations in Bursa on July 14, and the best 16 ball wizards of the country will be on stage Wednesday in Beşiktaş to prove they are the best. The winner fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the world final, scheduled for Nov. 16 to 18.
The competition format is simple: In each �battle� two players square off in a one-on-one duel against each other. They take alternating 20-second turns with the ball, using their time to show off the best of their artistic moves to the sounds of break dance and hip-hop music. In the finals, the judges will be evaluating the three minutes based on control, creativity and style.
The winner advances to the next round. There are no limits � other than the standard prohibition on the use of hands and a requirement that the ball and performer stay within the competition area.
